Smoked turkey is one of the recipes that my mom never forgets to serve whatever occasions we are celebrating. Celebrating occasions would be less perfect without having any delicious foods in the table such as smoked turkey along with other delectable dishes. My mom always made this recipe perfect that’s why we love it so much.


This traditional smoked turkey has been tried for so many years all over the world and has proven to be one of the most delicious foods that we truly love. Aside from its satisfying taste, it is also known as one of the healthiest food. Why? Well, its meat is rich in protein that helps us to develop lean and healthy muscles. As a matter of fact, most bodybuilders prefer to have turkey in most of their meals for them to help their body develop stronger muscles fast.


Because of several benefits we can get from turkey’s meat, it encourages me to share this recipe to everyone. So take time to read its ingredients and its little secret preparation to come up with a tasty and juicylicious smoked turkey that you have this coming Christmas!


Smoked Turkey Recipe


Smoked Turkey


Ingredients


For the Injection


12 oz. room temperature beer


2 tbsp. of Worcestershire sauce


1 tbsp. of liquid crab boil


1 tbsp. of hot sauce


1/2 cup of melted butter


6 pcs of garlic cloves


2 tbsp. of Creole seasoning


1 tbsp. of Kosher salt


1/2 tsp. of pepper

12 pounds of natural turkey, rinsed


For the Rub


1 tsp. of paprika


1/2 tsp. of garlic powder


1/2 tsp. of onion powder


1/2 tsp. of dried thyme


1/4 tsp. of dried oregano


1/4 tsp. of cumin


1/4 tsp. of kosher salt


1/4 tsp. of ground black pepper


1/8 tsp. of cayenne pepper

1 tbsp. of vegetable oil


2 fist-sized chunks of apple wood


Preparation



  • To make the injection, get a blender and place the beer, Worcestershire, Creole seasoning, butter, liquid crab boil, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic, salt and puree until smooth.

  • Get an injection syringe and inject the mixture into the whole turkey’s body.

  • In making the rub, get a small bowl and combine the onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, black pepper, paprika, cayenne, cumin and salt then mix well. Season turkey meat both inside and out with rub. Fold its wings and tie its legs together then brush all over with vegetable oil.

  • Grill to 325 degrees and add smoking wood chunks when at temperature. When it starts smoking, place the turkey and smoke until the thermometer reads 165 degrees in the thick part of the breasts for about 2 or more hours.

  • Once done, remove the turkey and let it rest, uncovered for 25 minutes. Carve, serve, enjoy!


Preparation Time:     20 Minutes


Cook Time:                2 Hours 30 Minutes


Yield:                         10 servings
